ABOUT JEANNE:

I am a stay-at-home-mom and a part-time writer. I write contemporary fiction stories about real life IMG_5114issues with a heart to draw readers closer to God and to those who people their lives.

My loves include cuddling up with my husband in front of a good movie, chatting with friends over coffee, rich dark chocolate, and taking photographs.

I love tickle fests with our boys, hearing them laugh, and making memories with my family. Whether it’s on a road trip, hiking, playing in the waves of Hawaii or game nights at home, I love doing it all with my husband and two boys. And a camera is never far away!

I was born just outside Chicago, and my parents moved us to Denver, Colorado, when I was six months old. I went to college in San Diego and obtained my first teaching job in the High Desert of California before I met my Air Force husband. We moved three times in our first two-and-a-half years of marriage, finally landing back in Colorado for a few years. After an eight-year stint in Las Vegas, we returned to Colorado in 2008, with two precious boys in tow. I love being close to “my” mountains again! My husband has since retired from the Air Force.

FAMILY TIES:

My husband and I met on a ski trip in Utah with a group of friends. I IMG_2144 (2) (640x427)began falling in love with him that weekend. Thirteen months later we were married. He’s my best friend, my biggest supporter on this adventure I call writing and my sanity check when life gets a little bit crazy. I love doing life with him.

We thank God every day for the two boys He gave us. On this blog, they will be referred to as Peter and Edmund. Can you guess some of their favorite book characters? They fill my days with laughter and hugs, and drive me to my knees, begging for wisdom to raise them well. They spout animal facts, are avid readers (like their mother), love adventure (like their father), and they have a knack for making me laugh and cry. I can’t imagine life without them.

WRITING LIFE:

I’ve always wanted to write. I stepped into the writing journey the summer of 2010 when a story came into my head and wouldn’t leave me alone. That first book is written and in revisions. A number of other characters have taken up residence in my head, inspiring me with their stories. I am beginning my fourth book. My stories are in the inspirational contemporary fiction genres.

In 2012, I finaled in two writing contests: the Launching a Star and the Phoenix Rattler.

I am a two-time finalist in the My Book Therapy Frasier writing contest (2013, 2014). I won the Frasier in 2014, to my surprise and delight! And in 2015, I finaled in the ACFW’s Genesis contest.

~I believe popcorn is a food group. Homemade with butter is my favorite. If you offer me chocolate coated popcorn, I’ll probably be your friend for life.

~I graduated from the University of San Diego with a degree in Diversified Liberal Arts which is a fancy name for a degree that allowed me to become an elementary teacher.

~I taught in California until I met and married my husband, and the United States Air Force moved us around.

~I read in most genres–women’s fiction, romance, suspense, adventure, classics, some historical and mysteries.

~I love the opportunities I’ve been given to encourage women and walk alongside them through difficult circumstances. My passion is to see women grow into all they were created to be.

~I enjoy listening to contemporary Christian music, some rock, some jazz and country.

~Gluten free foods and I are very good friends.

~My favorite movies include The Blind Side, Pride and Prejudice (BBC version), While You Were Sleeping, and The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Thanks for coming to visit!

  3. Speak of weird serendipity….. Jeanne, I was searching on google for an image of “a door marked “Nevermore” and was taken, by internet weirdness, to your blogsite. I’ve had a nice visit now and just thought I’d tell you of it. You have a very nice site. 🙂

  4. Hi Jeanne, I ran across one of your comments on the Steve Laube Blog and thought I’d check out your blog. I think we write about similar topics. I’m also a “hopeful novelist” writing about everyday subjects that lead my characters back to God. I’m also a mom and blog about similar subjects. Your blog is very well organized and appealing. Just wanted to say “hi” and wish you the best.
