I met Michelle at my first-ever writing adventure five years ago. One of the things that first drew me to her is her encouraging spirit. As I’ve gotten to know her better, I have appreciated her sweet spirit, a great listening ear, and she’s crazy-good at brainstorming stories and all things writing!
Please help me welcome Michelle Lim!
Life is complicated. There are so many times that we make plans that never happen because of life’s unexpected struggles.
As a wife and mom of four amazing kids, I’ve had to learn to roll with the unexpected. But keeping your chin above water gets exhausting sometimes.
For everyone life’s complications look a bit different. Maybe you battle with finances, health, or family relationships. Whatever the category, it helps to recognize it. Know what is your greatest challenge and work to offset the chaos it creates in your life.
My family’s greatest battle is health related. My husband and I have both been through brain surgery (not at all related issues), I’ve been through two heart procedures, and my children have had severe food allergies and asthma.
Life is not as simple as we would like it to be. That is a given. How we plan to persevere through the unexpected is entirely up to us. But capturing joy along the way makes our lives so much more fulfilling.
How To Persevere Through The Unexpected:
*Recognize Your Greatest Challenge. Although you may have several things that impact one another. For example, lots of medical bills will impact your finances. Look at the causative factor and address that first. Still, recognize the greatest adversary to your peace.
*Plan Ways To Improve At A Causative Level. Change your family’s diet and exercise habits to work on your health in a proactive way. For finance issues, identify a few places you can make a change for the better.
*Prepare encouragement for ups and downs. Find a saying that helps you to put your struggles into perspective. Maybe pick the most difficult thing you have ever faced and write it down in a reverse form to help you shake off discouragement and get back up. One of mine is, “It’s not brain surgery.”
What do you do that helps you persevere through some of your most difficult challenges?
